Saturday
night
June 17, 2011 at the
Syria
Shrine in Cheswick,
PA. The
finals
night
of competition
followed
2
preliminary
rounds
held
earlier in
the week
where
32
young
women
from
across
the
commonwealth
competed
for the
title.
At
the
start
of
Saturday’s
competition,
the field of 32
was whittled
down
to
the
Top-Eleven
finalists who
competed
once
again
in
Swimsuit,
Talent
and
Evening
Wear. Sheldon’s
performance
during
the
finals
competition
was
rewarded
by
a
panel
of 6
judges
with the Miss
Pennsylvania
title
and the
opportunity
to
compete
at the
Miss
America
Pageant
in
January
2012
in
Las
Vegas.
The
Miss
America
Pageant
will once
again
be
televised
live on
ABC.
Juliann’s triumphant
walk
down
the
runway
was just
the
beginning
of
a
journey
that
will take
her
to every
corner
of
the
commonwealth
during
her
year
of
service
as
Miss
Pennsylvania
2011.
She
will speak
to
various
audiences
about
her
personal
platform,
“Mental
Health
Awareness.”
In addition,
she
will support the
Children’s
Miracle
Network.,
a
non-profit
organization
dedicated
to
saving
and
improving
the
lives
of children
by
raising
funds
for
children’s
hospitals,
as
the
national
platform
partner
of
the
Miss
America
Organization.
Juliann
is a
21
year
old
junior at
Point
Park University
in
Pittsburgh
majoring
in
Advertising
and
Public
Relations.
Along
with the
title
of
Miss
Pennsylvania,
Juliann won
a
$7,000
cash scholarship
to
continue
her
education.
For
the
talent
portion
of the
competition,
Juliann
performed
a
Jazz
Dance
to the
music
“I’m
Gonna
Live
Till I
Die.”
The
first runner-up
was
Lexie-Olivia
Grant
from
Gettysburg,
who
earned
a
$2,500
scholarship.
Her
talent was a violin
performance
to
“Explosive”
and
her
personal
platform
is “Bringing
the
Arts
to
Life
in America.”
Second
runner-up
honors
and a
$2,000
scholarship
were
awarded
to Jordyn
Colao
from
Erie.
Her
talent was
tap
dancing,
and
her
personal
platform
is “Cardiovascular
Disease
Prevention.”
Rounding
out
the
Top-Five
were
3rd
Runner-Up
Drea
Chamberlain
from
Sewickley,
and
Fourth
Runner-Up
Ryann
Richardson
from
Philadelphia.
As the world’s
largest
provider
of scholarship
assistance
for
young
women
and
one
of the
nations’s
leading achievement
programs,
the
Miss
America
Organization
last
year
made
available
more
than
$45
million in
cash and
scholarship
assistance.
The
Miss
America
Organization
provides
young
women
with a
vehicle
to
further
their
personal
and
professional
goals
and
instills
a spirit
of
community
service
through
a variety
of
nationwide
community-based
programs.
