Miss Pennsylvania 2014, Amanda Smith
Amanda Smith is a 21 year old Musical Theatre major at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She has been active in theater for the past eight years, playing various roles, including: Cinderella in Rodger’s and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Wendy in Peter Pan, Audrey in Little Shop of Horrors, Gertrude in Seussical the Musical, Grace Farrell in Annie, Maria in The Sound of Music, and more.
Amanda enjoys traveling, hiking, wake boarding on the lake, snow skiing and volleyball. If you can’t find her outside in the sun, you’re sure to see her whipping up a new concoction in the kitchen or trying new foods on a night out on the town. Among her many hobbies, Amanda is an avid swing dancer and occasionally teaches East Coast Swing, Blues and Lindy Hop techniques in Pittsburgh. She is also involved with the Pittsburgh Hep Cats, a group of swing dancers, who regularly entertain seniors at local nursing homes.
Amanda’s personal platform is “Fitness and Nutrition: The Key to Healthy Living.” As someone who has lost members of her own family to preventable diseases, she is passionate about providing education and awareness regarding nutrition, healthy lifestyles and fitness to all Americans.
She is very excited to have the job of representing the state of Pennsylvania, and would like to thank her parents, family, friends and supporters for helping her reach her dreams!
